State Emergency Service

The State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer emergency service organisation established under an Act of Parliament to render immediate assistance during flood abd severe weather emergencies and disasters. Volunteers provide community response for ‘day to day’ incidents such as vehicle accidents, searches, cliff rescues, flood and storm damage situations and any other incidents that might require rescue or search services.

The SES also combines with the other statutory emergency services, the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service and the South Australian Country Fire Service.

The SES is part of a national network of similar services in each State and Territory around Australia. Around 2000 SES Volunteers are members of 68 Units across South Australia.
