Online Database

To find a JP in your area go to http://jp.agd.sa.gov.au/JPPublicWeb/ and enter either your postcode or suburb.

Note that only the name, suburb and telephone number of JPs are available to members of the public.

Your Council

Councils may have JPs on their staff and there may be ‘daily rooms’ set up where JPs provide witnessing services to the public. Some Councils list the timetables of JP ‘daily rooms’ on their websites.  For more information visit www.lga.sa.gov.au.

If you do not know which Council area you are in, find out by clicking on ‘Council Search/List’, type the name of your suburb and your local government details will be provided.

Your Local Electorate Office

Most Electorate Offices have JPs on staff. It is advisable to telephone the Electorate Office in advance to ensure that a JP is available.

To find out the address or telephone number of your Electorate Office go to the members section of the South Australian Parliament’s website www.parliament.sa.gov.au.

Courts

Courts also have JPs on staff who are able to provide witnessing services to the public. It is advisable to make phone contact with your local court about the witnessing services you need because court documents will receive priority attention by JPs.

Police Stations

South Australia Police stations have Proclaimed Police Officers on staff who are also authorised to witness and attest documents. It is advisable to telephone the police station in advance to ensure that a Proclaimed Police Officer is available.
