Duties: We are the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM). Every year, thousands of emergency services employees and volunteers attend emergency incidents throughout the State – putting out fires, rescuing people, conducting searches, freeing people from trapped cars, helping contain chemical spills, dealing with storm damage and much more. It is our job to ensure our volunteers and employees are provided with the resources and support they need to carry out this vital work. The South Australian emergency services organisations we work with are Country Fire Service (CFS); Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) and State Emergency Service (SES). The Media Liaison Officer provides media liaison, marketing, communications and public relations services in support of internal and external corporate communication strategies and programs, emergency incidents and the management of public safety. If you thrive on challenge, have excellent interpersonal skills (including team playing, conflict resolution and negotiation), experience working in public relations, corporate communications or a journalist role, want the opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge – we want to hear from you.

Special Conditions: Participation in an after-hours on-call roster system. The position will be a 7.5 hour shift over a span of hours of 0600 hours to 2000 hours, generally 1145 hours – 2000 hours. Must be prepared to be rostered on shifts during prolonged major incidents. Some out of hours work will be required. Some intra- and interstate travel necessitating overnight stays may be required. Must be prepared to undertake induction including basic fire fighter and rescue training. In emergency situations, may be required to undertake operational support duties appropriate to level of competence. Required to wear uniform/personal protective clothing as directed by manager. Willingness to fly in an aircraft if required. A current driver’s licence is essential. Must be prepared to be rotated across the sector to meet corporate requirements.

The Regional Operations Officer Identifies, develops and implements strategies that ensure that SES service delivery meets community needs and risks as well as complies with financial policy and operates within budget parameters. Essential Minimum Qualifications: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)

Special Conditions: The incumbent will be required to attain and maintain the minimum service operational competencies. Commitment to personal development. Extensive out of hours work will be required for which time off in lieu of overtime and operational overtime will be approved. Will work a 75 hour roster over 10 days in any given fortnight which may include weekends and public holidays, and for which a penalty of 13.1% is paid. Approved time off in lieu may be accrued and acquitted with the approval of the Regional Commander. Some intrastate and interstate travel necessitating overnight stays will be required. Must be prepared for prolonged operational duties on a rostered basis. Required to perform operational duties in emergency situations and participate in the Regional Duty Roster for which an on-call allowance is paid. Must be prepared to fly in rotary or fixed wing aircraft for transport or operational duties, as required. A current driver’s licence is essential.

The Manager Support Services also ensures cost effective maintenance and management of infrastructure and assets inclusive of information technology, buildings, vehicles, vessels, communications equipment and other equipment; contributes to the positive image of the SASES by representing the Organisation at meetings, seminars and on working parties at all levels including national; collaboratively monitors and manages SASES asset leasing arrangements; identifies and implements effective continuous improvement strategies. Essential Minimum Qualifications: Certificate IV or above in a business related discipline.

Special Conditions: Out of hours work will be required. Intrastate and occasional interstate travel necessitating overnight stays will be required. Required to participate in on call arrangements for which an allowance is paid. Must be prepared to act as State Duty Officer on a roster basis and be available for operational duties as required. Must be prepared to fly in rotary or fixed wing aircraft for transport or operational duties, as required. A current driver’s licence is essential.

Duties: The position is primarily responsible for CARDS (Court Assessment and Referral Drug Scheme) related work activities, which entail conducting the preliminary assessment and initial report to the Magistrates Court, Youth Court and Family Conference Team, of young people and adults referred through the criminal justice system. The assessment determines whether the person meets the eligibility criteria, their motivation and appropriateness for referral to designated substance abuse treatment providers. The Assessor is also responsible for matching and referring people to appropriate treatment providers, liaising with providers and monitoring progress and reporting this back to the court.

Essential Minimum Qualifications: A Degree in social work, psychology or health or behavioural science or a recognised equivalent.

Special Conditions: Up to four full time positions are available. Appointments are initially up to 30 June 2009 and may be extended for a further period of up to 5 years subject to additional funding. You are required to travel within the metropolitan area for work on a regular basis and to hold a current driver's license.You may be required to work outside the normal hours of work.
